Payson Update

This is the email I wrote to my community group concerning the latest on Payson. We will have the scope tomorrow and a different G-tube put in. So, hopefully we might get a direction tomorrow afternoon.

For the first time in our life we have become one of "those" families. You know the ones that are always asking for prayer, have never ending drama and always have a need. The ones that when you see an email from you don't even want to read it because you know there is more of the same ole news. I hate that we are "that" family and cant wait until our drama filled days are finished. I sincerely hope that this does not desensitized you all.

We got the results today and it confirms the tracheomalacia a collapse of the airway. They are still unable to feed him due to fear of acid reflux aspiration, so they are going to put in a different type of G-tube that will feed him directly into the intestines. They will be able to do this procedure tomorrow. In order to make a better plan for the tracheomalacia they need to take Payson to the OR and scope him with surgery, ENT and a pulminologist present. After they do this they will be able to make a plan on how to treat him. Due to the holiday being around the corner everyone schedule is packed and it doesn't look like we can have the scope before the holidays. Yet, that can change...I am going to beg our surgeon in a few min. Some of the solutions to tracheomalacia of his form are doing a tracheotomy, trachea surgery, putting a band in or just letting him grow out of it. Either way he WILL NOT be home for Christmas and with every passing moment it is looking like weeks to month in the ICU depending on the plan. They would love to send us home for Christmas but he is too unstable to do so. So, once again we are looking down a long, bumpy road with Payson!
