That's mean!

Just had to watch kid #2 walk out of the unit for Christmas! Apparently, there is a mass exodus of patients from the hospital in time for Christmas. I wished it was us and wished we could beam from ear to ear with excitement, but our time will come. It will come!

This morning when I arrived my son looked like he'd gained 5 lbs of water weight. As if having something in your neck isn't bad enough now he looks like a bowling ball! Great! The cause of the swelling is from the fluids, lack of movement and lack of peeing, (he's teaching them to mess with him, unfortunately his plan will backfire). In typical "Windsor" fashion he has already pulled his tube out by hand while heavily sedated. Then when he can't pull it out he figures he'll just wiggle out of it and so far has done it a total of 3 times. He is cracking me up! Go boy Go! Everyone and anyone who will listen knows that we are going to rock the training out. Yesterday wasn't soon enough to start, so as soon as the first trach change occurs we will be here and hands on. We will push Payson hard and as fast as he can go as long as he tolerates it. He seems to agree with my plan b/c he is breathing over his vent more than he was yesterday. The air in the room has gone from somber, sad, heart ache to let's roll. We have dried up our tears, wiped off our knees, stood up and are ready to rock n' roll. So this next part is the "Let's Roll" part of his medical mountain. We will climb, conquer and soar!

I have decided to give Payson a theme song, so here are the lyrics.

"Stand"

You feel like a candle in a hurricane
Just like a picture with a broken frame
Alone and helpless
Like you've lost your fight
But you'll be alright, you'll be alright

[Chorus:]
Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend, till you break
Cause its all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you've had enough
You get mad you get strong
Wipe your hands shake it off
Then you Stand, Then you stand
Life's like a novel
With the end ripped out
The edge of a canyon
With only one way down
Take what you're given before its gone
Start holding on, keep holding on

[Repeat Chorus]

Everytime you get up
And get back in the race
One more small piece of you
Starts to fall into place
Oh

[Repeat Chorus]

Fitting Right?
